Piston Identification

Unread post by Michael Beattie »

Guys

I need to replace the pistons in my 1600HF, having melted one :(

I thought I had a spare piston, but it turned out to be a 82.6mm, and is too big for the bore.

The pistons in the engine , unfortunately do not have the size stamped on them, only a number cast into the underside which is 092335B I can't identify the make but the symbol on the underside is a circle with a wavey line through it and possibly 3 letters containied within the circle.

Can anyone identify the piston and its bore size, as I currnetly don't have any measuring tools to hand

Cheers

Michael

Micheal,

Best is indeed to measure them. Be sure that the size you measure will be less than the piston size. Piston size is the size of the associated bore, thus the piston itself is smaller.

On the crown of the piston, you MIGHT see the size. I have quite some pistons and it turns out with all of those that if it is an oversize it is stamped on the crown. The ones I have in std size do have nothing on them. But again, I would measure them.

I have quite some 1600 pistons, some of them in incomplete sets. So if you want a single one, let me know. I am really getting rid of ALL my fulvia parts and moving to a groupA rallycar.

Peter

Thanks for that info, you were correct, they are std 82mm pistons, I finally got a Vernier on them to check. I also have a 82.6mm piston which was fitted to a spare engine, and it is clearly marked on the top as that size.

Problem solved :)

Michael
