FIAT FLAT IN 2004. GOOD PERFORMANCE OF LANCIA
(AGI) - Rome, Jan. 14 - In 2004, the brands owned by the Fiat Auto group registered 1,055,602 cars in Europe (15 member states EU+Efta), that is a 7.3pct market share which is in line with 2003 figures. According to Fiat, the performance was influenced by Fiat's decision to focus on quality and profitability of the sales, in particular to private buyers. Retail sales in the main European markets (Italy included) rose almost 7pct in December compared to the same month in 2003. European customers keep showing their interest in the models marketed by the Fiat Auto group, 8 of which are among the top ten best sold in their respective car groups: Fiat Panda (first in group A), Fiat Seicento, Fiat Punto, Fiat Stilo, Fiat Idea, Lancia Musa, Fiat Ulysse and Fiat Doblo'. According to Fiat, in 2004 the Lancia trademark registered a 14.9pct growth (20.7 pct up only in December) thanks to the good performance of the Ypsilon and Musa models.
