I am thinking about fitting Dellorto DHLA carbs to my Fulvia 1.6 HF
What do I need to know before I buy them? Can anybody give me any tips? What about manifolds? Can anyone tell me about that?
Thank you in advance for your help

Dellorto DHLA
Re: Dellorto DHLA
The DHLA is Dell'Orto's equivalent of the Weber DCOE. The large spacing means that you will need either a special manifold or, the works sometimes used, an adaptor manifold to fit to the original one. Personally I think that this can be a better approach. The famous No 14 Monte-winning car is fitted with a beautiful adaptor manifold for its 48mm Webers, sadly I do not think that anyone is reproducing these adaptors.
There are reproduction manifolds available; however, beware as frequently they are not properly finished and require considerable fettling. A friend bought one that was porous and thus leaked water; not very encouraging.
Best of luck

Dellorto v Weber
Thank you for the infomation. It is very helpful.
As a kind of next question, which carbs are better for the 1.6 engine weber or dellorto?
45's or 48?
I would like a (very)fast road /race, so I can use the car on hill climbs and occasional track days and as well as a little road use?
What other tweeks can people recommend?
Thanks

Re: Dellorto v Weber
I doubt if there is any significant dofference; as I said, the works used both, so who can say. Somewhere in Turin there is probably an archive ith the necessary information.
I once wrote to the factory about something. Strange to say I never received a reply...
I would suggest that 48s are a bit extreme. 45s should be good, but for heaven's sake have the head gas flowed by an expert and get a decent exhaust manifold!
