I intend to have some Lancia logo's, both metal and plastic rechromed.
Has anybody done this before? And how was the background made blue again?
Painting re-chromed Lancia logo's
Re: Painting re-chromed Lancia logo's
As far as i tried myself, the experience is risky :
wheel hubcaps (chromed metal) : went out rechromed correctly, but if spots are present before, they probably appear again after the operation, as they are hard to "fill"
logos at the back of the car (chromed zamac) : good result, even if the specialist was upset of the result (more than for the rest of the parts) : with an easy polish (flat surface) before rechrome, went out nice.
i tryed the license plate lights, back miror, and doors handle too, without good results for the same reason (bubbles in the material, appearing when polishing the part)
putting back the blue parts is a matter of painting with care...
i couldn't find anybody to take back the chrome of plastic parts (i presume the air intake on the front boot)..."chromed" paint is useless at my experience.
unless you have a good batch of parts to treat, buying reproduction parts is another solution... but I would surely prefer to meet a good professional to have the thing done correctly.

Re: Painting re-chromed Lancia logo's
Thanks Thibaut.
I have found a company which does an excelelnt job at rechroming everyhting including zamac and plastic. For zamac they have developed a process which tajes care of the bubbles and makes sure they don't come back.
Also I have found out in the mean time that the blue background on the metal (zamac) logo's is enamel. With a bit of luck it does not come off during re-chroming.
