Hello everybody

Today I went over Germany's biggest market for oldtimer and their parts, the VETERAMA in Mannheim and I bought a pair of Dell'Orto DHLB32 in mint condition.

Not really knowing, whether they would fit in my Fulvia (i.e. a 1,3 Rallye of '68), I've just searched alot within this forum regarding suitable combinations of Dell'Orto carburettors and fulvia engines. I got hints, that Solex 35PHH may be replaced with Dell'Orto DHLB35. Unfortunately I did not find any conclusion about the 32's on a 1,3 engine.

I would appreciate every information about this issue. Does anybody has experience with it? Will the car run well after a replacement? Or are the 32's only suitable for 1,2 engines?

Martin, I have a set of these 32mm ones for sale (new old stock) and received some questions on the subject. The ones I have have a venturi of 26mm. This would result in the horsepowers to peak at 5000revs when used on a 1300engine. If you want this peak at higher revs, go to bigger carbs. The advantage you get from these is the low down torque. I noted that especially in the UK, 1600 drivers switched from 42mm solex to 35mm dellortos for that reason. I wouldn't see why you would not do the same with switching to 32's.

Interested to find out about your experience. I would just fit them and when tuning them yourself make sure you do not run too lean (inspect spark plugs)

I would have thought that DHLB32's are too small for your 1.3 I think you would need 35's.
32's were recommended for my 1091cc Fulvia 2c Berlina when I bought them new about 2 years ago & cost about £400, they are a tremendous improvement over the solex's, she runs much smoother pulls a lot better & stays in tunelonger.
I've just returned from a 3500 mile trip to Portugal, driving down through France & Spain & they performed perfectly with only one slight hiccup, she was running ok but as soon as I took my foot of the throttle she stopped, this I think was due to a bit of dirt getting past the Filter King I have fitted (early cars didn't have the regulator/filter fitted) & the filters on top of the 32's, this however cleared itself.

It's well worth looking at the advise on Dellorto's in the fulvia technical section if you haven't already done so.
