side indicator S1

Unread post by Henk Broekhuijsen »

First of all I must say what a great side, so much to read about my favorite car by far.
I just bought my second S1 1969 rallye 1.3, it rekindled my interest.
My question is what should be the colour of the side indicators, my idea was clear/orange, but I see a lot of cars with orange light, is this because the clear/orange are hard to come by or where they ever fitted to some models?
I like to hear from you knowledgeable people. Henk

i think this depends upon where the car was first sold; in italy it was still the tradition to fit plain clear indicators to the front of cars right up until the early 70's, in other countries the amber cloured light was prefered although the clear lens was probably still legal ,hence some lens show white to front amber to side others are all amber

My 1967 model for the U.S. market (with all-red taillights) used the clear/orange combination on the front indicators. I miss the car, but it died of terminal rust.
