Respray and Tyres

Unread post by Adam Carruthers »

Hi,

Does anyone know how much a good respray should cost in england? I am worried that if I take my Series 2 car to someone who is unfamiliar with the Fulvia that they may well damage the chrome on my car. I also wondered if anyone knew where you can get the Lechler paint from (my car is Lancia Blue)?

Finally what tyres (of the standard 165/R14s) do people recommend fitting?

Thanks in anticipation,

Adam

Prices will vary depending on whether you want a bare metal respray or a rubdown repray. Any welding and/or replacement of existing panels will have to be added to the final cost. Moreover, if delicate trim items are removed by you, the job will be cheaper and the chances of breaking them fewer. Very few bodyshop garages can actually give you a reliable estimate as unpleasent surprises can appear after removing the old paint.

As for tyres fit Michelins. They cost a lot of money and are worth every penny.

Respray costs vary hugely depending on the type of paint, the finish you want, how long you want it to last, and how many shortcuts the cheaper people take.

Chrome - there is no chrome - its stainless steel and should be removed before painting.

Andrea is right - many nasty surprises can be hiding under the paint.

Call for further info.
