Happy birthday Flavia!

Dear friends,

Today, 3 November 2005, marks the 45th birthday of the Lancia Flavia. A day to remember and to celebrate Prof. Fessia's creation.

While it is true that the Flavia was not the best selling car of its time, many people insist that it is the best post-war Lancia model. And it's not only regular Flavia drivers who say so!

We feel today should not only be a time to look back to the past 45 years and all those moments with our pleasurable Flavias - and its variants like the 2000 and the Superjolly - but it should also be a time to look ahead. In 5 years' time, it will be the 50th anniversary, and the Flavia deserves a big celebration then.

Where should this event take place?

Well, as the Via Flavia, which lent its name to the cars, runs from Aquileia on the Adriatic coast between Venezia and Trieste to Pula in Croatia, the logical choice would be somewhere near Trieste. And as November might not be the ideal season to undertake longer trips with classic cars, a bit earlier in the season would probably be welcome too, we'd think.

Since the actual date still is quite a few years away, it doesn't make sense to start rushing the organization of this event, but it would be useful to ask your opinion about it. If you are interested in participating, please go to www.vignale.org/flavia.html, so that we can get an idea how many people might want to participate in this event. We will put your name on a mailing list and we will keep you informed when news will be available.

Best regards,

Andrea Nistri,

Happy birthday indeed to the Flavia!

I presume the celebrations will start and end at the bar Flavia on the via Flavia. I will be there with a Fulvia.
