Front windscreen Flaminia Zagato

Unread post by Patrick »

Can anyone answer me the following question:
will a Flaminia GT Touring front windscreen fit a Flaminia Zagato Sport? (not Flaminia Zagato Super Sport).

If not does anyone know where such a precious piece of glass might be bought?

Hello Patrick,
I took some measurements from my Flaminia Touring GT for you to compare.
The chrome or stainless trim is still in place so my measurements are based on going from
the centre of the trim.
Across the top of the windscreen from the trim joint to trim joint :48 inches.
Across the bottom from the trim joint to trim joint ( corner to corner) is 60 inches.
From center top to center bottom is 18 inches.
The outside edges are 15 inches from top to bottom.
I dont have a Flaminia sport to directly compare it with but from looking at pictures there apppears to be
a definite soft radius curve at the top of the A pillar on a Sport. Touring GT's have a definite 90 degree
corner at the top of the A pillar.
Andrew or Elizabeth at Omicron would be the first place I would look for a Sport windshield.
Todd.

Tony Nicosia in Costa Mesa California has a source for Series 1 Zagato windshields in Finnland. There are differences in the Series 1 and 2 windshields in terms of size. You can call Tony at 949-642-1969 on West Coast Los Angeles time or email him at tonynicosia@ca.rr.com

I don't think that the windscreens you are talking about are the same, as the Zagato windscreen does not fit in a seal, but is bonded to a chrome trim. When I restored my car, several years ago, I lent my windscreen to Omicron as a pattern, so they may have some. Mine is a 62 sport. Hope this is of some help.

I've had good luck in getting windscreens for Aurelias from Omicron. They do a very good job of measurements, and can answer this pretty surely for you. I would doubt they are the same windscreens.

Hello Cory,
Are you sur of a difference beetween the front windscreen of Zagato Sport ?
I have checked in all the parts books for flaminia and it's exactly the same number partr for all the zagato sports included the 2.8 type ( 826132 ) .
What is for you a first and a second serie ?
Best regards

Hi,
The Flaminia S1 and S1,5 front screens are very different from those of the Super Sport (that also have that very important "bulge" on top!). And the Touring ones are totally different again (GT and GTL being again different from eachother!!).

We have the S1 and 1,5 Zagato windshields available, as well as are working to find interest towards the SS glasses for a production later this year!
-there were some variations between the original S1 glasses, too, as quality was not so even back in those days, so please be careful when ordering a repro for a perfectly painted car!
-we had our original from Tony Nicosia's car from L.A. (Costa Mesa), and it fits well as should.

-it is also done in original thickness (!!) and marking is done etched in period-style, as was on original (you might lose points in a more serious concours from having a glass with a more modern serigraph-print on it...;-)
-edges are also lightly hand-sanded as was period-style for safer handling and longer storage-life!
-our wooden crates are very robust and guarantee a safe delivery to any destination in the world!

Hi Antti,
I think you agree with me for saying that all the Sport Zagato cars have the same windscreen type, from the first cars with the coverdeheadlamps to the last 2.8 sport with the vertical headlamps;
And the windscreen is totally different for the Supersport car ( 826 232 type ) with a vertical tail and incrusted vertical headlamps.
Please can you tell me your price for one or two Sport windscreens with secured shipping. I live in South of France close to Marseille.
For your information there are 3 types of windscreens for Touring because convertible , coupé GT and coupé GTL are totally different; the convertible is lower than the coupé GT, and the GTL is very different with a specific seal.
For information I have made the convertible/coupé GT seal, and a second type specific for GTL.
