On the intake manifold of the last two cylinders, closest to the firewall, there two fittings that vent the intake tract to the outside. Does anyone know the purpose of these things? Are they particular to the B12 or do the B20 motors have the same?

Are they there to lean out the mixture to the rear cylinders? I don't know if they should be sealed with caps or left open.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Do you mean the tappings on the narrow edge of the manifold flange? If so, one is used for vacuum operated windscreen washer. The other should have a brass screwed plug in it. Under the manifolds, beneath the inlet tracts, are two more tappings. These are for draining excess fuel away. Make sure that you fit these before refitting the heads!
