Lancia Granturismo Coupé released at the Paris Show

Unread post by Juan »

From "Automotive News Europe":

"The Granturismo is a static styling model of a luxury coupe for Lancia. Designed by the Lancia Styling Center under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, the Granturismo is based on the Thesis platform and recalls the Lancia HPE, or High Performance Estate, introduced in 1975. "

It is thought that it will go into production.

Take a look at www.carcerano.it

The details seem very light so far in the press about this car. Any pictures or more details?

Hi Giotto, Hi Ryan!

The car shown by www.italiaspeed.com isn't Lancia Granturismo by Carcerano. It's the "New York" concept, a sort of large sedan of american taste. Not very attractive, we must add.

On the contrary, the Granturismo prototype is very nice. On the last issue of Quattroruote you can find a (very small) picture of this concept. It's a 3-door coupe inspired by Lancia Beta HPE and based on Thesis' platform.

The Granturismo recalls also the "Nea" concept in some details (even if the Granturismo is larger) but in my opinon its design is much more balanced and inspired (nothing in common with the awful "New York").

This "Granturismo" (3 door fastback) could really give interesting suggestion for the future Lancias. For example: a new HPE based on Lybra, that could be sold at a reasonable price (let's say 30.000 - 35.000 €). On the contrary, I fear that the production of a Thesis coupè (too expensive, large and heavy) can have the same blameful sales results of the "kappa" coupè.

Ciao.

hi robert1,

thank you, you rescued me !!!!! that (in italiaspeed) could not be an actual lancia or they must be totally insane. but the pict in the last quattroroute is extreme small.... so i hope we`ll find better picts in the press next week, i think it will be too "large" and expansive to make such a car in europe... for whom? what is "next projekt" lancia will make public after the paris-show? i dreamed last night it would be the delta 3 - "project nea" one? and i hope my dreams will be reality in mid 2004... the next delta is about 20.000 euro and an elegant, luxory and individual 3 door coupé-stationwagon (without electronic gimmicks but higher inner flexibility) with the new 136 hp jtd or a sporty 1,8-2.0 l jts engine, a new selespeed or better automatic gearbox esp. for the jtd. it is based on the stilo platform and will be much more succesful as the 147 alfa. ... i have a dream ... there is no more "geriatric" alcantara but cool lancia-wool or poltrona leather (dark-red, gold, black-blue) . and you can have extreme dark metallizato-greys and blues an no more bright silver or bodeaux-red. and lot of chrome and alu/magnesia, and, and.....

viva lancia, real cars have italien names!

Hi Giotto,

I dream exactly the car you describe. And many other people do. But I think it's almost impossible to launch a car in mid 2004 starting with the design only 2 years before. The only chance is to have some project into the drawing, and it would be nice to know if the Delta 3 is "frozen" somewhere into Lancia's Centro Stile.
I hope only that the announcement of this new product will not be another great dissappointment

Bye

Being a partisan of the Flaminia (all the models except for the unnecessary GTL), and such other orphans as the Maserati Biturbo, I'd love to see a somewhat large-ish coupe. And no compromise on the "coupe" aspect; the people in the back don't need a place to put their heads. I agree with your idea of a decent amount of chrome and aluminum. Proper Lancias always looked like pieces of fine jewelry parked on the street.

Good news

Its good to hear of new Lancia products in the pipeline. So far we know for sure of the New Y coming out, which should be a successful sweat little car. There were also the rumours of a possible 5-door version of the New Y and maybe a "206 CC" style convertible.

Now we hear of the 'Granturismo Coupé' which looks good, that they have possibly decided to do the Lybra facelift afterall, and discussion of other products. Thank goodness, it seems someone maybe finally figured out that Lancia is worth saving! Lets hope this means Lancia will have the luck Alfa Romeo did these past few years and come back fighting.

Only think I would like to know right now is why this GT is getting SO LITTLE ATTENTION. QuattroRuote has next to nothing, I've seen no publicity even on Lancia's website.

whem dreams become reality!

only three words: brilliant, excellent, fantastic!

but i think the thesis-platform is too large and expensive. try this super GT coupé on 147er or stilo basics and this will be the superselling lancia ever! come on.

go lancia go ....

viava-lancia, real cars have italien names!
