Anyone present for the Bonham's sale at Goodwood which included one of the (4??) D50R recreations? Happen to know the circumstances behind its failure to sell...? Maximium bid? Who actually owns the car? For that matter, who own the other three?
Also on the same note, two D24Rs were present this year at the Monterey Historics in California (which unfortunately I did not attend). Are these cars now based in America? Or rather does anyone know exactly how many D24Rs were made, and where they are now? -James

Borrow, buy or steal the september 2002 issue of Classic & Sportscar. Lots of info on the D50R inside, plus cover photo!
Re: D50R at Bonhams Goodwood
Hi James
The D50 (R) was down to race at Goodwood but failed to start as did an Aurelia in another race.Barry Waterhouse in England(www.evocars.com) sent into "Viva Lancia" (September 2002 issue No 411) the club magazine of the UK Lancia Motor Club an article from Doug Nye that appeared on www.atlasf1.com site which was part of a discussion about the re-created D50. it would appear that the first one is owned by Robin Lodge 2nd by a private collector, 3rdTom Wheatcroft and the Donnington collection.4th was the one supposed to be up for auction ( I think the owner also owns a D24), 5th and 6th to follow but may not be to same spec.
If you would like photos of the one at the Goodwood Festival of Speed please let me have your email address and I will send them to you, unfortunately I'm not sure who that one belonged to.
Regards

Re: D50R at Bonhams Goodwood
Anthony MacLean owns one (possibly the one at auction), and I thought Bernie Ecclestone had one too, but maybe wrong on the latter.

Jonathan,
As I have written previously, if you want more details order one copy of Classic and Sports Car, September 2002 (Phone +44 - 1235 534323).
From what I have been able to get from published information (correct me if I am wrong!), R1 went to Robin Lodge and is the car that failed to sell at Goodwood, R2 and R3 went to Bernie Ecclestone and Tom Wheatcroft, R4 is going to Anthony MacLean, R6 and R7 are going to Guido Rosani, who started that business. This would leave one (R5) available, if you have the cash!
And that's it, because no more original engines seem to exist.
