My son's Y10 LX electronic speedometer registers 90mph for the first few miles of a journey then seems to settle down. Its an intermittent fault as it does not happen all the time. With the odometer wizzing round he can clock up some amaising mileages as well. Any Ideas before I get out my multimeter?

I got the multi-meter out and after checking all the relevant bits I narrowed it down to the sender unit on the gearbox. So its down to the scrapyard for a Fiat / Lancia gearbox with a similar unit.
