Delta III 1.6 JTD 88kW - engine not start DTC P0340

Dear Lancia Friends,
I would like to ask for your advice with my Lancia Delta III 2009 1,6JTD 88kW Selectronic
While driving, I started to hear a rattling sound in the engine at medium revs, as if something was rubbing against a sheet metal or plastic. It stopped at idle.
When I continued to drive, something seemed to rattle and the engine stopped. On diagnostics, it shows error PO340 cam speed sensor sensor.
I thought the distributor had torn, but it is OK. I have not noticed any leaks of operating fluids. The engine won't start, but it runs.
Can anyone think of what it could be?
