Question S3 '74 Fulvia head cylinder

Unread post by julian67 »

Hi

Would a '74 S3 Fulvia coupe head cylinder (818302 2286649) fit onto a '68 S1 Fulvia? (engine no: 818140 2239540)

Thanks

I doubt that 818140 2239540 is an engine number. The engine number is stamped into the flywheel housing where the starter motor sits. If the number is cast onto the head it means it was stamped into the mould. Idem for the 818302 2286649 number. The 818.140 and 818.302 part of the numbers say that the part was first used on an 818.140 resp. 818.302 engine.

The 302 head would fit on an 818.302 or 818.303 engine. Only problem you may have is the threaded hole for mounting the sender for the engine rpm. Sometimes the threaded hole is there but plugged. Sometimes it is not there.
