Fulvia Coupe trunk lock mechanism

Hi all,

I am struggling with refitting my trunk lock mechanism as seen on the attached photos. It has been off the car for some time.

When putting it in place I am able to open the trunk lock by pressing the lock button, whenever turning the cilinder in with the key, it runs out of its case. Somehow this should not happen and from other (not many available) photos of the lock I have searched for reference, it seems there is a screw holding the cilinder in place.

Does anyone know, based on the photos, what is wrong with it and how it should work?

Well, I've got a bit further on this and thought I'd share it with you.

It is a bit complicated to explain and can imagine not many went here before... As I found out, the centre of the lock where the key is inserted in the lock cylinder is in fact the part that turns and trough the spring inside it moves the pushing rod to and from the boot locking handle on the hatch pin.

It turns out my lock is actually broken and someone in the past fixated the complete lock cylinder so that only the push button would work for opening the trunk lock but not being able to lock it off. Not a problem for me since my car is always safely parked, so that's the way I went..

Made a headless screw to keep it in place and put everything back in de car and I have a working push button again.

Hi Thomas
I am not sure to understand what is your problem
I found "old" pictures in my computer, before replacing the lock in place some years ago
Does it help ? There is a small scew that locks the cilinder so that it cannot move out (you can see it separated from other parts on last picture
Also a page from the technical data

Thanks for the pictures, I will try to compare them later.

Basically, it was a summing up of messing around in the past, probably by more than one owner trying to fix the lock. The conclusion is the key mechanism if broken, but the push button is now back in order by the flat screw that I have made.
