6-speed gearbox on a lybra?

Excuse me by posting a message in English, but I can't read or write Italian. Recently, I bought a very nice Lybra 1.9 jtd SW Emblema from 2003 with only 85000 km on the clock!
Do you know if it's possible to fit a 6-speed gearbox on this car? For instance from an Alfa Romeo 147 1.9 jtd 16v, or an Alfa 156 1.9 jtd. I asked around on the German and Dutch forum, but didn't get an answer. Anybody here?
Best regards.

Hello,
You should check wether the law in your country allows to fit a different gear box or not. In Italy you have to pass check test and make variation on the car papers, and if the six gear type is not produced by Lancia, you can only take a test as prototye vehicle. be careful in this.
Another note is that i don't understand why you want to change your gearbox.
Six speeds means to change gear more often and would increase clutch stress (and your). And what would be the benefit in this?
Best regards

Thanks for your reply. In Holland it's allowed to change the gearbox, and I won't tell anybody. So that's no problem.
Of course I have to change gear more often, but most of my mileage will be on motorways, so it will be in top gear 95% of the time (even on the crowded dutch streets). Furthermore the car will be chip tuned.
I'am used to driving a Alfa Romeo 166 2.4 jtd (also professionally chip tuned, no powerbox or something like that) with a 6-speed gearbox, but now i've bought a Lybra again. A 6-speed gearbox will give lower revs at cruising speed, less noise and better fuel economy.
The reason I wanted a Lybra again, is that the Alfa is relatively big and heavy and most of the time I'm driving alone. So I prefer a smaller car then the Alfa (which is very good car, by the way!), less thirsty and better for the environment/climate. I've also considered an Alfa 156 1.9jtd 16v, but I like Lancia's more! Especially the car I've found is a very nice SW Emblema with tobacco coloured leather interior and mint green metallic outside and only 85.000 km on the clock. The only thing that fails is the 6-speed. Maybe I simply have to live with it...
Or is there anybody who can tell me if a 6-speed alfa gearbox will fit???

Perhaps it will fit, the engine is the same on both models. Take a look at the clutch command too.
I think that a Lancia or Alfa Romeo technician should help you better.
Good luck
