Thema Front Suspension

Can anyone tell me if the wishbones are the same on all Thema models (I know that the 8.32 is different) i.e. all the petrol ones.

I have a suspicion that I need a new or good SH wishbone and /or ball joint for my 1992 LS Turbo.

Thanks in advance

Paul

As far as I know the 8v and 16v thema wishbones are identical and are also the same as Fiat Croma, Alfa 164 and possibly also SAAB 9000
SAAB used different rear suspension but the rest are all the same. I used Shocks/springs from a Croma turbo on one of my Themas - exactly the same.

thema and croma 2.5 td install a bigger estabilizer bar than atmo and turbo. also the transmision betwen boths versions isnt the same. the others elements are full compatible betwen versions, at least at front

Thank you Kassus - those diesel anti-roll bars could be rather useful. Am I alone in thinking that the poor old Thema is a bit of a "boat" - it wallows. Stiff springs would be nice but I know that they are no longer available.

hi paul

i worte you because i just install thema-croma 2.5 td front stabilizer bar on my thema 16vt :-) they are a few mm bigger (21 mm instead 19 mm) so the dynamic improve is not definitive but better. as you said very useful. i also installed koni sport shocks and HR springs -4 cm.....so the car still being a ship. i think the reason is that i have choose so much tyre (215/45/17)

about the transmisions, a few moths ago i tried to install 2.0 ie atmo version into my turbo and i found they are thinner, in this case less hp less mm :)

regards

Anti-roll bars: an increase of 2mm on a 19mm bar will mean that the (21mm) bar is quite a bit stiffer - I am too lazy to find the formula, but the calculation includes mutliplying to the fourth power. Your new bar is probably about 50% stiffer than the old one.

I had a new rear bar made for my Fulvia: 16mm instead of 14mm - I did work this one out - it is 60% stiffer.

hi

interesting comments, i have a similar software. so im not sure about the virtual results, as i said, my thema is a ship, nothing compared to the oem configuration, specially when i set the koni at race configuration :-) but there is so much swing. next i will try to install battery on the trunk :-)........13.4 kg to the rear, it means about 5 - 10 % of less weight to the fornt axle
