More power from Thema turbo (8-valve)?
More power from Thema turbo (8-valve)?
What should I do that I would get 220hp from Thema 8-valve turbo i.e, what if I want 250hp or what if 280hp?
Re: More power from Thema turbo (8-valve)?
280bhp? That's alot.
Basically rebuilding the engine from scratch and reinforcing everything. I think you should check out the evoforum on delphiforums, and check the faq's to see what kind of things these engines respond well to. Usually these engines have alot of km's on them, so make sure it can handle all the extra work you're going to make it do.
Personally, i try to keep my engine as standard as possible, i like it perfectly the way it is. Another thing is, i don't see why you would want a 280 bhp-frontwheeldrive car, that just doesn't make sense. But then again, you are from finland...
What exactly are your plans anyway? If you're going to go through with this, keep us posted!

Re: More power from Thema turbo (8-valve)?
I know that 280hp is a little bit too much of that engine... How about 220-240hp? How can I have that?
Re: More power from Thema turbo (8-valve)?
you can install a bleed vavle in the wastegate to increase a little bit the bar ratio, read the forum about it
anf be very carefull
best regards
Re:280 is not too much...
280hp is not too much.
My mechanic build one that registered 420hp on the dino.
The gear holds well and does not break like the gears on imprezza turbo's. 420hp is however an overkill by any means...

hi ziggy
i dont know of those 420 where in a thema, if this is correct it would be the fastest one. you can send me some pics to esepocho1978@hotmail.com.
with 1,5 bar up to 6000 you can obtain about 320 hp in this engines, but the tuning must be very important. unfortunatly thema is not the best to work on it because of the old ecu bosh + microplex.

Re:280 is not too much...
The car is in Israel.
They tested some very tough competition in "auto" magazine here. A porche 993 twin turbo that was built by TTP in germany that was measured at 480 hp did 1 km at 19.75 seconds. an imprezza turbo did it at 26.59. The Thema did it at 22.39 !
Audi S4 that was tuned at Honster in germany (twin kkk turbos 477hp) did 20.70
The Thema measured 352 hp - my mistake. it's got 440 cc injectors and a garret T3/4 among other things.

What are the other things?
What are the other things?
Re:280 is not too much...
The whole engine needs to be rebuilt with hi performance pistons ,rings, hot cams, valves, manifold work, induction system, larger intercooler, secondary cooling system,Apexi boost control or similar,3" free flow exhaust system - no catalityc converter or anything among other things...
