Dear friends
Both the "door open" light and the spotlight for reading in the rear right side is gone in my 1994 LX. The bulbs are ok as are the fuse. Does anyone know the ansver to the problem? Is it the door contact or.....dont know where to look...
thanks
Villads

Hello Villads,
Is the warning light indicating that the door is open?
Can you check for voltage on the light sockets? This may be an earthing problem where the earth connection for both functions go to the same point (don't know where that is though). The door closing has a micro-switch in the lock mechanism and they do fail occasionaly due to water getting in. It is possible to short-circuit the switch so that the check panel always thinks the door is closed.
Will try to check my car tomorrow.

Hello Leo
There is no power on the sockets, I have checked. I havent checked if the warning light indicates that the door is open but I think it does. I will check it out (good idea). Maybe you are right that it is a earthing problem. If you find out where the ground for this light is, i will be glad to know, so i can se if this is the problem.
Thanks for your help so far!
Kind regards
Villads

Hello again
The door contact seems to be working. When opening the door i can se it on the check panel. So maybe it´s a earthing problem. Tryed to follow the wire but lost it. Does anyone know where the earth for this section is?
Thanks
Villads

Hello Villads,
Have had a close look at my car and cannot trace the earth wire (thin black one). Both sides are wired the same way. If you pull the wiring up into the hole where the lamp fits you will find a black connector that has 3 wires. Yellow is the 12 Volts from the fusebox. Black is the earth connection and white is the connection from the door switch (sits at 12 volts with door closed and earth when door is open). The hole where the fixing screw fits is in the metal of the body so that can be used as an earth. So you could cut the thin black wire and connect in to the screw-hole. However, check the volts on the yellow wire first - that feeds the red wires on the bulb holders. If the 12 Volts is not there then its back to tracing the wires.
It is raining here just now so will try to trace the wiring further if it stops raining.
(At first I thought you meant the check panel light - sorry)

Try to clean all the fuses in the fusebox, that solved my problem with the door lights.

Hello Peter,
How dirty were your fuses? I had a series 1 Delta with the fuse box in the engine compartment and the fuses were all corroded - I had to replace the fuses and cleant the contacts. Are you talking about that sort of thing?
