I'm thinking of de-cating my thema 16v turbo LX. Will it increase it's performance? and how much? And what about airfilter? a KN panel filter or a JR injection kit ? It seems to be impossible to get a "sports" exhaust for the thema, so i may have to build one myself.. maybe skip the 2 middle boxes and only have a backbox. Should it be 2", 2½" or 3" ? or would it be to noisy? And is there any "chip" there is especially good for my thema ?....any ideas would help me alot..any at all. sorry for my lousy english....

I have a Nouvo Delta HPE HF turbo and when the exhaust rusted away i had a stainless steel system made from the flexi back. This removed the cat, front and middle boxes, the result is an exhaust noise which now has settled to a nice rumble. The first things i noticed where:- improved throttle response, willingness to rev and improved MPG.
The system is made from 3" stainless steel trhroughout, to make the system better is to replace the manifold and flexi to have no reductions in bore through the system. I have also a high flow washable panel air filter, I have not gone for a chip as i am happy with the performance.

Surely it is quick enough as standard? Any simple modifications like a different air filter will not make much difference, Simon's comment about the exhaust will help though. The exhaust on my car leaks at the flexi joint but the car is so well sound-proofed that it doesn't sound much different inside. Outside it sounds like a V8!

I've just had a Powerflow full stainless system fitted to my 16V Turbo.
It's still a 3-box system, but with performance silencers it still makes a meaty sound.
I've also bodged a Pipercross cone filter on.
It seems to breath a lot easier and you can now hear the turbo spool up, which is pleasant.
