Hi,
2 days ago the fuel pump on my 1994 Thema 16V broke. The price of new BOSCH fuel pump is around 250 EUR. Is it posible to fit another (cheaper) fuel pump with the same debit of 6 bar? Can anyone tell me the makes and models of those (cheaper) pumps? The BOSCH number is 0580453979, the pressure is 6 bar.

Hi Valentino,
from what I know you can alternatively use that of a Chroma or a Ducato.
You can get a used one from a scrappy.
Make sure that it's the fuel pump, though.
I've had lots of problems with the fuel system and it was usually due to either burst fuel hoses or the pump being blocked by rubber fragments.

Searching the net I've found an italian company (MEAT & DO.RI.A) who produces the replacement for BOSCH. The number is 76179. The price in Greece is around 120 EUR. Still my mechanic advices me to by a BOSCH if I intend to keep the car. The price for BOSCH was 215 EUR.
