Flaminia SS Zagato chassis numbers
Congratulations to Pierre Vallade for the spread sheet showing various Lancia chassis numbers. But a question on the Flaminia SS Zagato line - the factory indicates there were 150 produced (plus 37 of the Sport modified to SS specs), for a total of 187. But in adding up the chassis numbers year by year - 2001-2010 (9), 2011-2098 (87), 2099-2141 (42), and 2142-2150 (8), that gives a total of 146. Where is the balance of 4 to make up to the 150?
Secondly, my SS Zagato has chassis number 2090, and through several owners has had a manufactured year listed on several state titles of 1967. Yet looking at the chassis numbers by year, this number falls into 1965. Is the 1965 correct?
Any help would be appreciated. Ken

Don't forget to count the first car - chassis #2001 to #2010 is actually 10 chassis. That will account for your missing 4 cars over the 4 years.
The low production numbers speak for themselves. The Flaminia SS was (is) an expensive and sophisticated coachbuilt car. 150 cars were built over 4 years, plus the 37 Sports were upgraded to SS to try and sell them - they weren't exactly flying out the door when new, especially in the last years. Your car certainly could have hung around in Lancia or dealer stock for a couple of years before it's first retail sale.

Richard - yes, of course - my math was in error - thanks for correcting me. The total is 150 + the 37. By the way, this car is one of the very few (if not the only one) with a split front bumper - perhaps done by Zagato themselves? Trying to determine the original owner. I have written to Zagato, but do not know if I'll get a reply. Apparently during that time, Lancia was in a transition period. Gianni Lancia sold his factory to Carlo Pesenti about 1956 and Mr. Pesenti sold the factory to Fiat between 1967-1969. During these transfers some documentation was lost.

Hi Ken and others
A friend of mine has started restoring a flaminia super sport. On stripping the body he has found a lot of evidence that it has been modified from a sport. Can anyone shed any light on the modified cars. The chassis no of his car is an early one.

According to Weernink, 59 of the Sports were converted to SuperSports

What is different on a converted Sport from a Super Sport? The engines are different, and the body is changed (along with the dash), but are there other changes?

When my friends super sport was dismantled it was found the front and rear guards had a number of sections added so it appears that the panels were originally made for a sport then modified to be used as as a super sport. There was also small parts of tubing for the frame, cut off on the rear inner wheel arches, these cut off tubes match the location of the sport tubes. So obviously they couldn't sell the sports so it was decided to introduce the new super sport and convert the existing chassis in stock.
It would be great if any other forum members could shed more light.

I could be wrong, but my research shows that 37 Sport were converted to Super Sport for a total of 187. (150 original Super Sport + 37 converted)
