Advice on fitting S1 zagato side window

Hi folks,
Can somebody please advise me on the correct sequence for re-fitting a rear side window on my S1 Zagato. I removed it to have some minor repairs made where the paint has blistered but would like to know the correct sequence to re-install it. Is the chrome strip around the window fitted before the window is fitted into the body or is it fitted afterwards? I was not too concerned when removing it because the rubber was damaged and needs to be replaced but I don't want to damage the new rubber when putting it back.

the chrome strip around the window have fitted before you put the window into the body. Otherwise you don“t have a chance.
There is a recess inside of the seal to keep the chrome strip later in position.
In general a difficult job. You have to have patience to do that and good nerves.

good luck

Many thanks Andreas. Do you fit it the old fashioned way (soap and a piece of string) or are there more scientific ways these days ?

And an extra pair of strong hands ..... String broke a couple of times. Think I changed to nylon strimmer string.

Not a job I want to do ever again.

Just to finally report that after a long wait for the rubber to arrive from Italy (on foot?) I was able to fit the window. In fact it went in easily with a good dose of soap, some strong string and my son pushing from the ouside. Thanks to all for the good advise.
