8v Turbo - engine failure

One of my 8v Turbo's (I have 2 of them) ran it's big-end bearings the other day - In hindsight I suppose it was a bit foolish to take it around the race track - it does have 388 thousand Kms on the clock. On stripping the motor I am suprised at the lack of wear on anything - cam followers, cams even bearings (with the exception of two of them) shows how if the car is looked after with proper servicing (the previous owner had the car serviced every 10 thousand Kms or every 6 months). I won't be rebuilding this motor - parts too expensive - but can get a motor from a local wrecker for only $550NZD (£175) which has 'only' 170Km on it. Will post more info as I proceed.
