Thema clonking

My 8v turbo lx makes a mild clonking noise when going in a straight line it seems to be coming from the gbox or driveshafts, any ideas?

It seemed to go away after i inspected the bearing between the hub and gbox, maybe it is these bearings that were tighter???

any help appreciated.

It sounds like the CV joints on your car have gone, does it happen more turning in any paticular way? if it does it's most likely the outer joint on that side/sides, if it makes very little difference then it's the inner ones, either way it's going to cost! Hope this helps.
