S1 gearbox question - slow downshift to 2nd

Hi,
I have recently had my S1 Rallye S gearbox worked on to fix an oil leak on the top selector bush. When the workshop opened it they discovered damage on first and second gear, the synchros and 1-2 synchro hub. It was a bit strange as the car has quite low documented mileage and only one owner before me. It did not display any signs of damage before and shifted quite well. I bought all the parts new at great expense from Italy and it was all put back together by a reputable gearbox workshop, with copies of the workshop manual provided by me "just in case". I filled it, after a lot of research on oils suitable on bronze synchros, with Redline MT-90 (75W90 GL-4) synthetic manual transmission oil. On various forums this oil was praised for the improvement in shift quality it brings and compatibility with bronze.
All shifts are absolutely perfect, even when cold. First to second is smooth and quick compared to the various Fulvias I've owned. The only problem is shifting down from third to second. At any speed over +-25 mph it crunches badly, which really hampers swift driving.
I have done around 1,000 miles since refitting and iI'l take it back to the workshop to inspect. Any ideas what might be wrong to point them in he right direction?
Thanks
Albert
