Can anyone help met with my speedometer? (1990 thema 16v)
My speedometer has given up. Very rarely it is active and when it is active the meter occasionally sweeps from –90kmph till +90kmph
relative to what your speed at the moment is.

Does anyone have a clue? Can it be in the dashboard or is it more likely that the problem is in the measurement device?

The thema has an electric speedo. It will be one of 3 thinks.
1)The sensor on the top of the gearbox (round thing about 35mm wide with a cable coming out) located near the gear linkage.
2)the white ecu box on the back of the instrument cluster has developed a fault (can be fixed)
3) the electric motor that turns the speedo if faulty. swap it with a motor form a scrap car.
I know all this because my speedo didn't work for 2 years.
