Dedra 1.6 - New Heater Matrix = Smoke through vents

Got my heater matrix replaced... it was leaking. But yesterday when i came from the mechanic i turned the A/C on to try out the job. Temp at 24ÂșC and opened the dashboard vents... The air was flowing but i noticed some "fog" inside the car and it was comming out from the vents. The air that comes out smells like alluminium or something like it. It only happens when water is allowed to pass the heater matrix. Is it because the heater matrix is new???

Please help because when i turn the A/C on i have to get out the car after some minutes to catch fresh air!

Hi,

Sounds like it is a preservative or possibly something dropped on it (oil?) suggest you just let it burn of by leaving the engine running with the heater full on & windows open, suspect that you will find that it will burn off in petty short order.
