Hello all,

Does anyone know what error E1 is on the Dedra automatic heater? I'm looking at a 2000 turbo which is up for sale with this affliction, and wonder how involved getting it fixed might be. No response at all from the air volume or temp controls - just the display "E1".

Also, how much noise should a Dedra turbo engine make when starting from cold? With the bonnet up on this example, it sounded rather diesely (piston slap?), though it pulled strongly without smoke and was somewhat quieter when warmed up. I know this is probably a "walk away" sign - but it's a nice car otherwise and just in case "they all do that..." (!!)

My old one sounded just like a diesel! Nobody really knew why it did so, some people said shims, some said guides, some said camshafts.

Is it my old one? A metallic black J reg with a TIM boost guage and HF grille badge? Weird markings on the dashboard where a radar detector once sat?

No it's not your old one - this one's blue.

Was it terminal? Or even a problem?

Well the car still worked - I probably covered 20,000 miles in it after the noise began. Just sounded embarassing.

I think the problem started after I used Mobil 1 engine oil. Avoid this overpriced rubbish!

I have same problem E1 erorr. Have you fix it ?
