Hi,

I seem to be having a problem with the Lambda Sensor on my '83 1.8ie. Every once in a while the dash warning light comes on and the car loses power for a few seconds, then the light goes off and the car bursts into life again.

I've been advised that a replacement (universal fitting) costs around £50.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you resolve it (how do you remove the unit?)

Hi Ian,

If you do change the Lambda sensor do it very carefully! as I understand they are quite fragile, you will find it befor the Kat, screwed into a boss with an electrical lead coming from it.
I would advise if at all possible take it to someone like Evocars, Beta Car, Bob Brain Developmnts or one of the other Lancia specialists still around, to have the diagnostics attached to the car and check the fault memory, when the warning light came on it would have triggered a fault code into the ecu memory which will then enable you to trace the defective component .
An hour on the diagnostics is a much better way of solving the problem than trial & error which will probably cost you more in the long run.
