I can't help you on the colours etc. Perhaps someone else can.

You have a 2nd Series Dilambda, probably built in1931.

I doubt there's a way to find out the original color, other than forensic investigation. Some original paint may remain somewhere in a hidden corner or under later resprays.

There is a Dilambda DVD on this site for sale containing the complete Spareparts catalogue(English German Italian French and Spanish) and the owners manual(English). Also many brochures as pdf files, pictures etc.
I compiled it and own the books. The DVD is only 30 Euro, the life books are a little more expensive. :)

If interested in the real books, please send me a private message(on top of the page)

Hi Ed,

Could you please explain how you are coming to that conclusion?

27-1004 hints to series 227 serial number 004, the 27 and the 1 are pre stamped on the plate as far as I can see.
I am sure you are right but I like to understand why.

The Lancia community is a small but tight group, and you might want to take some time to get to know some of them first. People in the pre-war cars are friendly, but few of them are instant "parts dealers". You can try Cavalitto in Italy, but I'd take some time to find other Dilambda owners. Roberto Pozzi of the Aurelia Registro has one I think. Recommend joining the English Lancia Club - there is a wealth of information there and you'll find other owners to share ideas with.

Lucas,

It's possible the 27-1 was pre-stamped on the chassis plate, but the Dilambda chassis numbers don't follow the later Lancia practice of beginning with serial 1001. In fact both the S1 and S2 Dilambda are Tipo 227 and have sequential chassis numbers. S1 chassis (1929-1930) run from 27-13 to 27-891, and S2 chassis (1930-1931) run from 27-892 to 27-1075 (except 27-998 - 27-1000 unused).

That puts 27-1004 in the last 1/3 of Tipo 227 production and therefore it's probably 1931. At least that's how I figure it.
