ECU problems

I,ve recently bought back my old 1800 i.e dedra, however two years on its acquired a problem with the engine management since a , apparently reputable ,firm fitted a towbar. The car will now only run on very fast idle and runs incrediably rich about 18 MPG a lot worse than i remember. Has anyone out there got a recon/ or secondhand E.C.U for sale, or better still any ideas on what else could be causing said problems.
