I have a Lancia Dedra 1.6 i.e. and in each 5000Km it "eats" a 1lt of oil! It is normal??

I used to have a 1.8 l 1991 model who started eating oil from 70.000 km . I think towards 100.000 km it took at least 1 liter every 5000 km . At Lancia service they said this was normal consumption. I sold the car (happily..) at 105.000. The new owner had the chance of driving 10.000 more kilometers before the motor let him down. Irreparable damage forced him to buy a exchange motor.
This happened with regular oil change with quality oils, so take care.

I haven't had any problems at all my Dedra has run 300 000 and acts almost as new!
