Turbo gauge

Hello. I own a 1990 16v, it runs perfectly, but the turbo gauge dont go all the way to 1bar. What could be wrong? The car is pretty fast, but since I`ve never tried other Integrales before, I`m not sure it is as fast as it should be. It could be a faulty gauge or a faulty turbo...

Hello Tommy,
My 8V car is the same - I fitted a calibrated boost gauge and it only shows up to about 0.5 bar.
The biggest suspect is a leak in the turbo to plenum chamber pipes - check for loose clips and cracked rubber. I think that my problem lies in the dump valve leaking a bit but have not replaced it yet to confirm (I can hear a hissing when the boost is up. If the performance is OK then it may simply be perished joint rubbers on the small plastic tubeing that feeds the boost gauge (and the heater control vacuum tank). Turning the fan speed control fully anti-clockwise should and back one notch should cause a very quiet hiss from the control "switch", if not check the joints.

Does the turbo light come on when accelerating hard?

Hello Tristan,
Yes the overboost light comes on under certain circumstances - pedal to the metal and the engine working hard (eg: flat out in 3rd). The overboost is controlled by the ecu, don't listen to anyone who tells you that there is a switch !
