Im new to this forum so Hi,

I have just bought an 8v 1989 Delta Integrale off a friend for possibly the best price ever! He had left it stood in his front garden for 8 months and it was killing me to see it go to waste so I have purchased it. It took me and two friends 10 minutes to jump start it, put air in the tyres to drive home (after usual checks of course). The car ran perfectly. 95% of the mechanics are exceptional with paperwork detailing a complete strip down and rebuild of the entire engine and gearbox 2 years ago. However as usual the rust is setting in around the window frames and doors etc so this is now my project car to restore it to imaculate.

I have a few questions regarding the car,

- How do you change the battery! Maybe its just me but I cant seem to get the battery out as there isnt enough room

- Anyone have a 16v Bonnet for sale as this ones quite rusty and I think they look better.

- Anyone know what the knock could be coming from the back when moving or coming to a stop (I have been told by my friend that he was told the diff neaded rebuilding but my other friend doubts that as he thought they were bullitproof

- Is anyone breaking one of these cars as I am after lots of small parts that look tired and worn. (Window Rubbers, Carpet, Heater Box, Alternator (possibly), Boot Struts, Front O/S Foglight, Near Side outer headlight, Sunroof lining (and maybe roof lining), glove box lid, rear nearside passenger door handle, Front grille, 16v bonnet, various relays, original airbox, Sunroof outer seal

There is no such thing as a cheap integrale. Quit whilst you are ahead. Your friend didn't take this car off the road beacuse it is a fantastic car.
Unless you are well equipped to work on this car yourself, your best bet is to buy a decent one for about 3 - 4 thousand pounds.
Before doing anything, check the rear wheel arches and inner wings by removing the side bolsters of the rear seats. If there is no rust that will be a miracle.

If the alternator is faulty and cannot be repaired by replacing the regulator and brush assembly, the engine will need removed to replace the unit unless the hinge bolt has been fitted the wrong way around (I've just been there).

"my project car to restore it to imaculate" - If you decide to procede then I wish you luck. It is certainly true that a Delta integrale is an awesome car and they are no more expensive to live with than any other performance car. Don't fool yourself that this is going to be a low cost easy adventure. Start by finding someone who has worked on Deltas previously - you will need help.

Are the wheels in good condition? If so sell them on Ebay. btw: In the Lancia world "integrale" does not have a capital "i".
