injection light after repairs
injection light after repairs
after a recent disaster with my Delta HPE turbo the inlet valves were replaced and the long winded job of reassembly was completed, however upon starting the engine the injection light goes off and then comes back on again a few seconds later, the engine ,whilst it runs appears down on power and not particularly responsive (although I've only driven it up and down the street as it is clearly not healthy),seems mechnically ok, got to be a sensor fault anyone any ideas which sensor???...........as there's clearly a bad connection somewhere
Re: injection light after repairs
Hi Alan!
I have the exact same problem with my Integrale Evo2 and I am asking myself the same questions as you do. The injection warning light goes on and off in what seems to be in total random. And while it is on, the engine is feeling weaker and the turbo is not charging at all as it should, and sometimes the engine cuts at 4000rpm in a quite rude way. I drove to a workshop and had a diagnostics done, and they found some stored sensor fault codes though everything seemed to work at that time. I would guess it could all come from a bad connection somewhere or some sensor beginning to malfunction.
There ought to be someone out there with good ideas! Where should I start to look?

Re: injection light after repairs
yes well mine is on constantly and the car runs badly (not driveable) I've checked all connections and sensor resistances no luck so far.......
Re: injection light after repairs
Hello Alan,
The Lambda probe may have contamination on it - a "blast up the road" may fix that or you can remove it to check.
If the HPE has Bosch Motronic management then it may be a leak from the pipe from the mainfold to the MAP sensor. If it is Magnetti-Marelli then it won't run unless the pipe is secure.

Re: injection light after repairs
interesting idea at the moment I'm checking all the connections and checking continuity to the ecu connection block.......
Re: injection light after repairs
My engine management is running on "limp-home-mode" when the warning light is on, meaning it wont allow the turbo to boost fully and it cuts the rev at 4000rpm. Common reasons for this seems to be faulty signal from TPS (throttle position sensor?), broken lambda (oxygen) sensor and camshaft position sensor near the distributor (or where the distributor used to be if you have a Evo II).
Re: injection light after repairs
I tested the switching voltage from the lambda and it switches ok, also checked throttle switch air and water temp senders at the ecu socket. I didn't put it all back together after the head was done (how I wish I had now!), I have found a stray connection at the front of the car .....but can't find what it connects to.......also the water temperature guage doesn't work....what fun!

Re: injection light after repairs
Maybe the disconnected cable is for the Pierburg valve? I think that one should be disconnected if you want to boost morte than 1,0 bar (as many tuning chips do). If your water temperature gauge is not working, the sensor may be broken. It's a cheap part so the fastest way to find out what's wrong is to buy a new one. (costs less than €8 in sweden) Faulty water temp sensor is also one of the reasons for the injection light to turn on i've heard.
Re: injection light after repairs
got the water temp working.....still a constant red light though......

Re: injection light after repairs
since I got the water temp guage working have taken for a short drive and all is now much better (obviously a bad connection somewhere was causing some of the problems) but i still have the red light on all the time
