Hi Leo,
I remember a while back chatting to you with regards to sticking an HF Turbo engine in my car. Well believe it or not its finally ready to revieve the bigger engine; I've uprated the suspension, brakes and had all the cracks welded! I know I need to remove the loom from the doner car, but could you shed a little more light as to what exactly this may involve, i.e, once the engine and ancilleries (oil cooler/intercoller etc) are removed and I'm left with an emplty engine bay, what else should I take. I appreciate that I don't need the complete loom to, but will the Turbo's loom plug up to my loom and at what point will this happen? Will the fuel pump be up to the job as my car has a carb, or will I need the higher pressure pump from the Turbo car. What about the coil, I know my car has a electronic distributer?

Yeah go for it!
The weber loom is self contained and has connections to the basic car wiring at two places - 1 there is a main power feed (green) that goes onto the main power block on the offside turret, 2 there is a four way connector which is used to feed from the ignition switch and some other things that I can't remember but will check. The ECU sits in the space ahead of the gear lever and that part of the loom can be pulled out with the big grommet that is central in the bulkhead. This is hidden behind some sound deadening material but is easily accessed when the engine is out. You will need the electric pump and pipes! - A bit fiddly but not too difficult. Best to use the turbo ignition coil unit it mounts differently but all the holes are there. Same connections ie Plus and Minus. I'll have a look at my HFie and then reply.

I know it is not the best idea, but in the short term I wanted to use the 1300 brakes until I get the HF Turdo ones overhauled, will the 1600 driveshafts mate to the 1300 hubs?

Yes the splines are the same. I believe that the Turbo has a higher specification bearing though so you might find that the 1300 ones don't last too long when your pedal is to the metal!

And as for the brakes - well the Turbo ones are a bit pathetic anyway - best bet might be to get set of "Green stuff pads (or some colour) to fit the 1300 calipers (may be the same pads??) - ask Bazza for a quote (but don't tell him that you are using 1300 brakes on a Turbo - he will not approve!).
