Hallo

This was the worst part of my project, but thanks god it looks like I've solved it, but I haven't tested it yet. The problem is that the signal is 15MHz clock RGB with vertical and horizontal synchronization which is used also in scart connector. So for example if you have a video recorder you should be able to get this signal to it. But as you know scart has all kinds of signals, so you are not able to use any cable reduction like to cinch because scart has also the cinch signals, so this reduction changes only the end type of cable. I was googling half a year and finally found a converter from scart to HDMI (with upscalling to 1080i), so I had to buy another monitor with HDMI input as the one i have has only VGA input. So the one with VGA, I'm going to use for rear passengers as an independent screen. When I started I discussed all this with one expert who was the first one who was able to get DVD signal do original lancia lybra screen and he said me not to waste my time

(also must say his advices helped me a lot and I would not be able to find a solution without him) , but finally after more than a year I've collected all needed stuff and the only thing missing is time to make it work. My project is a bit complicated as I will have TV using original antenna, another GPS using original antenna, rear camera and many other things communicating with a car.
Controlling the PC via wheel buttons is for me impossible now. I wrote to car2pc company, which is producing this control unit for other car makes, but they are not suitable for thesis, even the loudlink producer has nothing, but he gave me an advice how to solve it, but in my opinion it's a bit like to scratch right side of the head with left arm, not my way of solving problems. These emulators are using signals from radio sent to cd changer, because original wheel buttons are communicating via CANbus.
So I have decided to control my pc via touch screen.
If you some more questions, you can contact me.
And I have one more question for you, how do you force the PC to start with the car? I can make an relay to control power input, but it doesn't boot up the PC.

hi vlad.
I'm using a voom pc 2 case and a M2-ATX 6-24V DC/DC (160 Watt) power controller.
http://www.cartft.com/catalog/il/574
this is using + and - from battery and + from body dash when starting eg. cigarett plug.
than when power on, motherboard ist started.
If power is lost on cigarett plug (when car stops) the signal power off is sent to the pc.

hi sorry my english is not so good. How have you made a scart output? There are 12 pin, 2 I believe are not covered, how do you know the pin assignment? Where should I connect this 10 Pin to the scart pin exactly?

You need a video converter, which converts from RGB scart video signal to suggested output. But you must be careful, there are too many video signals in scart, you need RGB. I already bought one which should do it, but unfortunately it receives RGB with cvbs synchronization

which is for cinch connection. But as mentioned before in other post, I decided to do it in different way. Not to have a picture input switch but to have only one picture and control the car from there in programmed interface via canbus. I'm really quite near the end, but unfortunately my new screen controller broke down, so I'm waiting for a new one.

Im stuck exactly at that point getting ther sorry, damned NIT signal to RGB or HDMI

and in the last month i didnt had so much time because of a new job

--- thats on one side nice...on the thesis side bad
vlad...if you manage to get the Tesis signal to RGB or HDMI, please let me now. I do have a complete Thesis console, changed the screen with a better one (resolution etc.) and mounted a touch scree interface in front (cheaper to by a screen and the touch interface, for example for the eepc 100xx - paid 22 $ at dealextreme.com)...all in the original console...Connect is still working (but the original screen is in the glovebox...ist that english?)
I thougt about using hififreaks solution to put the original or a smaler screen for the connect on the dasboard and use the original space for the car pc... this way all steering button and the buttons around the (now pc screen) screen are still working and we just can shut off the NIT screen
let me know, how far you are and what you think about my solution
greetings
Loreno
P.S. Ivo.... bin wieder in CH

vielleicht mal aufn drink? Aber melde mich noch per PN.

Well,
my exact state is that I have changed the screen for one with twice resolution supporting fullHD, I have installed win8 with special car interface. I have working navigation for whole europe, It's glamorous, it has 3D buildings, says to slow down if there's a static camera or a place where police cars often control the speed, says to slow down when very sharp turn etc. Bluetooth handsfree is working, mp3 player, dvd player, avi player working. LPG and car diagnostics installed. I have also a camera always recording the situation in front of the car. I've started testing the convertor from scart RGB to hdmi, but found out that the one I have uses RGB with cvbs synchronization not original RGB. Right after a decision to test the control board from old videorecorder I realised one more sophisticated way. After a year of finding the way how to connect original picture to any other output, after finding out a solution I decided no to do it

. I'm gonna program a connect interface to my working pc car interface that would be controlled via the buttons around the screen and also from the steering wheel. I like this solution as it would be one picture and one interface and not two switching. Well the interesting is that the steering wheel buttons, screen buttons are working separate and also in different way and the microphone is connected directly to connect. But I'm using a microphone from the camera to control the interface now. I also know how to connect car with my computer but right when I was going to test it, my screen controller broke down so know I'm waiting for new one with automatic input changing when selecting R for rear camera.
Hope you can now more imagine the state of my project
