Electric fuel pump

Hello,
Can someone please tell me where the fuel sits on an early (S1) Montecarlo? I want to fit an electric pump to my S2 car (so as to make start up easier after car has sat for a few weeks). I fitted the pump above the tank sitting vertically with the hose connections at the top but it wouldn't draw fuel up. Have done some off car testing and the pump seems to like to operate with the connections lowest. I can see two likely mounting studs on the subframe is that the fixing? If so the pump would lie horizontally.

Confused of Scotland.

Leo, I think the pump mounts beside the tank midway up the bulkhead/firewall. You may have to prime the thing once its in place by taking off the hose at the carb and pouring a little fuel down with something like a little squeezy [honey?] bottle...

Ben.

Thanks Ben. My car only has fresh air around there so difficult to mount the pump. Will have to make up a bracket.
