I don't know if it is EP. It is one of the reasons I have never tried.

I bet cars with automatic gearboxes also have differentials

Certainly they have differentials; my only concern is with the hypoid CWP. Most cars use spiral bevels >I understand, which do not have the sliding engagement that hypoids do - they also absorb less power!
