His Name is Mr. Herbert Demel; if you speak German with an Austrian accent it might help...
We've had two old Fulvias from 1968-2000 so I know how lovely they were and what engineering they contained.
As much as I loved the looks of the Fulvia concept if ever it had been built I would have preferred a car with more 'content' than simply a beautiful body over a Barchetta chassis which never inspired any writer into odes of ecstacy...
If it were to be built on a modern front drive chassis with top-notch performacne, quality, handling characteristics etc. beating other front wheel drive cars in such areas then I would be up there begging them to build it - not on a Barchetta chassis.

Should Fulvia Series 4 die here?
Re: Should Fulvia Series 4 die here?
Gentlemen,
Everybody thanks for your input, comments and ideas.
Let me explain the idea behind my original posting. If we want the new Fulvia to happen, there is only one way: there needs to be a market for the new Fulvia and Fiat needs to recognise that market as being an interesting one for them. As (potential) customers we can show Fiat that the market exists. And perhaps we can even help them in their thought process in relation to the build decision. My posting was meant to bring together people and ideas to show the existence of the market.
In your postings, some examples have been given of comparable cars and market niches. I offer another example here: the BMW Z1. The Z1 was originally built as a non-production concept car in which BMW showed the application of a number of novel technologies. Their idea was to bring their know-how about convertible sports cars up to the technology level of the time (1986). The car eventually attracted so much attention that BMW could not but actually produce the car. Initially 2000 units were (hand) manufactured and subsequently an additional 6000 units we brought to market. This was all based on pure market demand. The cars were expensive (the first batch cost €40000 in 1989 and the second batch was more expensive). BMW stopped production in 1992 because they were not making money on this model.
Now think again. BMW subsequently went on to develop the Z3, a hugely succesful car, now being succeeded by the Z4. Some of the technology used in the Z1 is now being used in the latest 3-Series cars (mainly suspension) and beyond. The Z1 was the start of BMW's innovation drive through the Z-cars and was released at the same time as the modern 3-Series and 5-Series. From then on, BMW has not looked back and has continued to develop tremendously succesful cars. So have they made money on the Z1? In my view they sure have and the return on that investment has been fantastic.
Moreover, the Z1 is now a cult-car that can still match any convertible sports car technically and esthetically.
So I have this model in mind for Fiat. If well executed, the new Fulvia can have similar effects for Fiat as the Z1 had for BMW.
Now back to my posting. I think we should build the market. We should set up a web site where people can register their interest in the Fulvia. We can build a database that we will eventually present to Fiat. We are not going to take orders, but we are going to build an electronic marketing instrument for Fiat/Lancia.
The web site will be simple but we need people that can build and maintain this web site.
If you are interested to work on this, let me know.

Re: Should Fulvia Series 4 die here?
Why not considering the use of the platform of the new alfa GT to build the New Fulvia?
Re: Should Fulvia Series 4 die here?
Somebody had a quite good idea... The management of Fiat-Lancia told, as a reason not to build the Fulvia, that such a project was too risky... another arguement was the situation of the company whitch was in charge to build the chassis...
Well... first of all, the chassis of the Barchetta could be build by anoher Carrozzeria... even the whole Fulvia could be build by another company... lets consider what VW did together with Karmann...
So, the Fulvia could be build... Now, concerning the risks... It would certainly be possible to convince all the Lancia dealers to take part to an innovative way of saling special cars... let me explain... they should promote the concept car and collect names of potential buyers of the car and even collect money, for instance... I mean, if there are lets say 2000 people all over Europe officially signing and giving let's say 5000 € in deposit for the acquisition of a Fulvia, I'm sure the mangement of Lancia would reconsider the proction of it? I'm also sure that once produced, the car will appeal a lot more buyers...
I think at least 10000 Fulvia could be produced and sold for all Europe, within let's say 5 years.

Re: Should Fulvia Series 4 die here?
The making of a web site of that kind is a very great idea !!!
Re: Should Fulvia Series 4 die here?
Hi, Guus,
Following the idea you submitted to us concernig a website where potentially interrested buyers of the Fulvia could leave their name, I made one site of that kind.
Here is the url : http://flashbuilder.net/users/ducky4you
Please have a look at the site and tell me your opinion about.
Best regards,
Stef.

Re: Should Fulvia Series 4 die here?
Hi Stef,
It seems we both live in the same country!
Your web site proposal looks fantastic. We should get Huib to advertise it on the home page of the Viva-Lancia site. Could we integrate into viva-lancia so that Huib is happy? We are all fighting for the same cause anyway!
Now we need the register. Is this something you could do? I also think we would need a link to the Italian New Fulvia registry site. The more demand the better.
You must have spent quite some time developing the site and the blog. Very impressive and a good resource.
I think the registry should include a questionnaire with which we can do some statistical analysis which will be helpful to sell the idea to the (new) Fiat bosses.
I am also developing an alternative which is to acquire the Fulvia design and right to use the name from Fiat and have the car build by a specialist firm. I have found somebody in Belgium interested in looking at this possibility. However, they could only do a limited series and not a few thousand, which would make the car more expensive.
I feel the pain-point is around Euro 30,000....
Best regards,
Guus

Re: Should Fulvia Series 4 die here?
Dear Guus,
I'm pleased to read that you seem to like the job i've done.
Anyway it has been a pleasure...
So far so good, then. Of course, i agree for the link between the site i made and viva-lancia !!
Could you tell me more about the Italian New Fulvia Registry Site yuo're talking about? Concerning the registry, i can keep an update list of all the replies i will get on the site but i'm affraid, i don't think i could be able to do more. Anyway, i'm putting miself as volunteer for all works you could give to me according this fight
.
Concernig the alternative for the building of the car, no sweat. I woul be so happy to buy a Fulvia, 30.000 € doesn't matters.
I tried to leave a message on the italian forum about my site but it has been cancelled. Could you have a word over your idea and the site i made on that forum?
I would be nice to have an european join up to convince the head of Fiat to ensure a better future for Lancia.
I was thinking about joining up with the guys from Italiaspeed as wel...
