How did the instrument cut out bevels merge with the veneer without looking like two separate surfaces? I have some veneer i am going to use

On the oriignal S1 dash, the bevel is brown plastic, and the veneer edge can be read if you look closely enough. But the exposed veneer edges are sanded at the bevels, so that they round into the bevels. This minimizes the exposed edge, and the finish further minimizes the effect.

Hello Rick,
To make it look like a rap round finish, the edges need painting out with the same colours as the veneer, using small brushes and the paint needs to be acrylic, this is where the artistry work comes into play The paint will need thinning first to the right thickness and transperency (you may need to add an acrylic thickener,so it does not run or merge together) then just paint away, remembering LESS IS MORE
After that the clear finishes can be applied
After summer I am going to make a video on how the dashboards and door handles are made and finished and post it here

Actually, on the original dash boards, the bevels are sprayed a simple brown that contrasts with the veneer, rather than exactly matching its tones.

Yes, so I see from photos I have seen on the web and some I have looked at, seem to have the ply edge showing as well this could be when Fiat took over
I suppose it all comes down to the year of manufacture
