Latest I can reveal is half a litre of mayo in the top of the head with rocker cover off.

Water pump drains not blocked and no sign of leaks / water in cyclinders (cranked with plugs out).

So off with the head.

Nothing very obvious from the gasket as its only been in for 500 miles so I will get the head to my machine shop and look for warping (favourite).

Update for those interested.

Took head off - nothing suspicious regarding the head gasket.

Stripped head and took to Cober Engineering - a specialist cylinder head engineering shop.

Pressure testing showed big leak from inboard middle inlet cam cap bolt which was threaded down to the waterway. This would not have been a problem if the previous repair had not cracked away the surrounding alloy.

Repair in progress with an aluminium plug tapped and welded into place - cracked metal removed and rewelded.

I await a further leak test to confirm no other problems before 3 other cap bolt threads are repaired!
