In my US Army time (many many years) I was never Infantry, so I can says the following:

I always thought that that phrase was extremly stooopid !

I " wondered who the King of Battle etc......the Princess's ?

I assume that the person who dreamt up this lovely, flowery phrase did so prior to "Queen" being a word used in certain circles to describe a Homosexual-Male....or maybe not !
