I assembled the engine myself and am aware of the mod. But I never modified it.

Yes, so my memory does work sometimes!

Yes I knew that the nozzle was steel.

I am sorry to say that I cannot think of a satisfactory way of solving the problem without you-know-what.

Too bad. I was expecting a pin hole functioning as flow restrictor (like on the tensioner) as blowing 6 bar onto the front seal did not seem a good idea to me. It might explain some incurable oil leaks from the front seal if the piselino is slightly off aim.

Are you sure the piselino went down town? It happens to me occasionally that I think the thingy is not there. When I move my head a few cm's and take a torch it suddenly appears. It is far down.

You may try to remove the front of the crankcase with the engine in the car. If you don't destroy any gaskets you are lucky. If you do damage gaskets, you can still take out the engine.

OK so we agree that a 3mm opening in the oilcircuit is to much. And we agree that the common oilgallery is were the oilpressure is measured and were the leak is. The discripancy is thus that even if the oilpressure is still fine, the 3mm hole could cause problems...

I would say, I agree that we don't know for sure. It is better to be safe than sorry. Certainly if you have a higly tuned engine which is probably running very thin synthetic oil

I think I will check the fwd main bearing for wear. The nozzle has been gone for at least 4000km's That was when the headgasket was replaced.
I'm running Motul competition 300v 15W50

Always worth a look, but I'd be a bit surprised if there was trouble with No 1 main.

I would definitely check the centre main though!

William, I told you to take the engine out to replace a head gasket. Apart from head gasket failure this can also happen if you do the work in the car.

I would take the engine out to solve this nozzle problem also. I take my engine out in 90 minutes. Alone. If you do it often, every thing comes loose soooo easy. Plus you train yourself. But also you will do a better job with an engine out.

Apologies for the slight hijack ...

Peter, when you say engine out, is this just the engine, or the whole subframe? If just the engine, I presume you take the radiator out, disconnect fuel, electrics, exhaust, clutch, etc., then unbolt the bell housing, pull forward, then up and out?

Any special tricks or maneuvers?
