Hello,
this (attached pic) is what the box looks like (from my 3 Fulvia Montecarlo). It is a Magneti Marelli AEC 103 B. A while ago, I searched the internet for any information, and found some, but not too much.
I'm also interested in your comment about the different stickers on the S3 MC. What is the difference? I have not yet put stickers on my car. When I bought it long ago, the hood was already resprayed, and there was no trace of the sticker. In the back, the sticker appeared to be original, but was black and white - which I never saw or read about elsewhere. I suspect it was merely bleached from years in the sun. But I'm interested in any details you know.

Groetjes,
Bernt

2e serie is script met een lijn er door
3e serie is gegoten (links moet er dus wel Lancia staan en rechts dus Fulvia 3)

My Dutch wasn't good enough...
I thought you were referring to the Montecarlo sticker on the hood and trunk lids.
Thanks for your insight :)

Bernt,

This is one of the first electronic ignition systems built into cars. Originally designed for the Fiat/Ferrari Dino (that's why it's called Dinoplex) and to be used in formula 2 racing, later on also used in many Ferrari's, Fiat's and race cars. It is a capacitive discharge ignition triggered by the breaker Points and later on they were triggered by a VR-sensor.
I've casted some new cases and convert them to a new electronic system as described in my first post.
I think if they are only delivered on S3 montecarlo it will not be of much use here but if anyone want's to have it like it left the factory i have some new ones.

that's good information! I have long thought that it is a shame I still have the ignition box, but don't know much about it - it was in place, but not installed when I bought the car. And it would be pretty unique to have this installed and working - I don't think many of the remaining S3 Montecarlos use this. I've never seen one.

But now I've just had Huib convert my car to the 123 ignition, and will keep the AES103B in a safe place. But I have saved your information for future reference - you never know.

Thanks,

Bernt

The 123ignition is perfect so no need to regret that. But don't throw that box away, they were iconic ignition systems and these red (4 cylinder) versions were used on fiat 124 abarth and some more cars like that.
You'll hardly see an original one that still functions, most of them are broken. The electronics are potted in epoxy so they are hard to repair but it's possible to remove the epoxy and build in new electronics.
