1966 S1 Coupe green colour

Unread post by Erik S »

I am trying to find the correct colour name and code/formula for a 1966 Coupe.

It is a kind of darkish sea-green...

My best bet until now is Lancia 170 Verde Ostenda, found via the Glasurit page.

I have also a reference to a Giada Bettole, used from 1965 till 1972, but no numbers for this one. From the one sample I have seen, it looks too light.

Any thoughts, anyone?

I have an original Fulvia coupe colour swatch of the time and there are three greens:

Turchese Mereveld - a sort of grass green
Verde Ostenda - seaweed green (very dark)
Giada Bettole - a very pale light green (almost white)

I can take a photo and e-mail you if it helps (not sure how to post pictures here).

From your description, it's almost certainly not Verde Ostenda; that's a dark forest green--very close to black.

Thanks, Neil & Ed!

This leaves us with Turchese Mereveld, then?

Does anyone have any codes or formulas for this paint?

Eric -

I've sent you via email some pages from the Flavia parts book which list both Lancia and Max Meyer paint codes, including one for the Turchese Mereveld.

Of course, now you have to find a Max Meyer distributor (vis Italy)! The Glasurit book I have doesn't list this paint for the Lancia, and we have yet to find a MM to Glasurit or PPG guide.

FWIW the Verde Ostenda is gorgeous on Fulvias - personal favorite.

Thanks, Geoff!

Email received, I did not think of looking in the parts book....

The Norwegian Max Meyer agent is just 40 mins driving from here, I'll contact them, and see where we end up.

If you have good luck with the Max Meyer agent, please share it. We'd love some way to get from the Max Meyer Lancia numbers to another paint system, or even a way to get MM samples of the colors.

Someone once lent me a MM color chip book from the late 1950's - it was wonderful, but there is no MM presence in the US to work with.

Please let us know what you find. Thanks,
Geoff
