Ok, mine are now really and truly tired. I've gone through several decent used sets until each has become rubbish. The rear is so sloppy that the (I admit, somewhat oversized) tires are rubbing things they should not be when I turn at greater than old-lady speeds. They never used to do that. The handling is terrible. I don't think I have any rebuildable Konis on this car, but if I do I don't have them on both ends and all four corners are tired.
My mechanic said "try the British." He's right; people in the U.K. (and Oz, in my experience) seem to always end up with all the old car bits. Maybe they wash up onshore during storms. And I see the Betaboyz website offers all sorts of lovely newly manufactured suspension bits, but not struts.
I'm in the U.S.. Even American Lancia Club members refuse to acknowledge this car.
What are people out there doing about struts? Is there a source for Beta (coupe) struts or any types that can be modified to work?
Struts
Re: Struts
I've posted before that i managed to get SPAX fabricate front strut INSERTS. fully adjustable from the enginebay with a spanner 8mm. For this installation you need the rebuildable struta as used on all models till '78 or so.
As I plan to sell my '75 Beta in the near future I didn't bother asking for rear inserts as well as they work fine at the moment.
Till not so long ago KYB made inserts for the rear. So did Monroe.

Re: Struts
Betaboyz are working on this as we speak, working with Spax to supply front and rear to top adjust struts, with a Modification/kit to be able to fit to the later sealed units,

Re: Struts
This will be a great thrill because the loss of acuity in my car's handling is--obviously--the loss of a good deal of what makes the Beta a joy to drive, especially in the USA where the engine has been stripped of a crucial bit of its edge. So I await the results eagerly.
Re: Struts
I had my struts operated on by my local suspension specialist. They sliced the top off and fitted a socket and retainer. It can now take standard strut inserts. I had Monroe excel insert done. Not adjustable but good quality. This may be a more economical for some.
