I am in for a 1600 manifold, Lukas! I like these experiments. I have one here ready be fitted. Sourced from Italy and one of the 'bossato copies' as they call them. I had one of these copies before and this one is different again. I remember the one I sold to you. It was for my own engine. Same Italian story of a gr4 copy, but different again. Together those 3 all have different lengths for the pipes. Not even possible to figure out what they meant to do.

If we could have somebody make a batch of manifolds AND share the experiences I think we could move things forward. That is what a forum like this is for. I have seen equal length manifolds made by hand. But they are so complex, that wouldn't make any sense commercially. PL's manifold goes OVER the driveshaft. It might be the solution but it didn't look affordable to manufacture either.

Tim, you mentioned you had the lengths calculated. Did you compensate for the differences in length between the outlet ports? Based on volume (lenght x area) or length only? The extractor pipes are most probably wider than the outlet ports. Did you take that into effect? And what length did they make the first and second join?

This going to be interesting.

Peter

Yes lengths for 2 and 4 3.5inches (90mm) shorter. Length for 1 and 3 15 inches. Internal diameter 35mm

2 to 1 is 28 inches long and 41.5 mm ID to collector box then 47.5mm ID to main pipe.

This is all one peice and 66 inches long!

Tim

This was calculated for Holbay cam 38/70/76/32 at a max tourque rev of 4750rpm.

Hello Peter.

yes my exhaust does go over the driveshaft - and I have to remove the head to get it out, but this was not the one we sold at Evo Engineering. the Evo engineering one fits the standard way; have a look at my blog. The prototype we made was perfect: it fitted superbly and was made from umpteen pieces of tube welded up. I wish I had it!
